Update on the Ukraine conflict
BGL is closely monitoring on developments concerning the situation in Ukraine. We will assist our customers as the conflict progresses in addressing any negative effects on their supply chains. BGL expects that the recent developments in Ukraine will impose significant operational and capacity limitations across all modes of transport on the entire region, including Russia.
Chinese New Year – Market Update IV
Due to recent COVID outbreaks and quarantine restrictions between China’s provinces, the demand for returning home is expected to be lower than in previous years. Some factories shut their production earlier to allow staff to travel to their home town with a sufficient quarantine period.

Siste nytt om frakt markedet – Suez-kanalen og mulige konsekvenser
Som de aller fleste har fått med seg har denne uken containerskipet MV Ever Given grunnstøtt i Suez-kanalen, og dermed blokkert kanalen for all trafikk. Skipet var på vei til Rotterdam i Nederland og drives av det taiwanske shippingselskapet «Evergreen». Skipet kom ut av kurs som følge av vanskelige vindforhold.
Operasjonelle utfordringer og vedvarende høye rater
Den største innvirkningen er på Europas hovedhavner Rotterdam og Hamburg. Her er det forsinkelser på grunn av dårlig vær, sterk vind og snøstorm. Disse faktorene forårsaker forsinkelser på både ankomst og avgang og dette i kombinasjon med lav vannstand i Elbe elven fører til lasterestriksjoner for både oversjøbåter og feedere.
